Nokia is working on a new S 40 smartphone!

Twitter has done it again! One Tweet a day, takes the surprise away!
And in this case, it's a Tweet from Nokia's manager of marketing services in Argentina. He let slip a tweet over the weekend about Nokia's new Series 40 OS phone, and then retracted it -- but not before tech website- Engadget had captured a screenshot.

(Image-cnet.co.uk)

The screenshot is in the picture added here. And here is what it mean in nglish- Nokia may soon launch a touchscreen phone that runs the Series 40 operating system, and comes with a 1GHz processor, ClearBlack Display and a full Qwerty keyboard.

According to CNET- "We're slightly baffled by the specifications. There may well still be demand for S40-based phones among those who don't want all the bells and whistles of Symbian, but why would Nokia slap a beefy 1GHz processor inside?
The presence of ClearBlack technology makes sense, though. We've already seen it on the Nokia E7 and C6-01. It's designed to reduce reflections on the screen and improve image quality by enhancing contrast. It's particularly useful when using a phone in strong sunlight."

So, it's clear- amidst the plethora of Android and iOS phones, a high-specced S40 device is not that exciting. Now, it's a known fact that the Symbian is doing good, but at the same time, current S40 handset market is still huge, but, with Windows Phones coming in, maybe, Nokia should concentrate in that area.

So, what is exactly Nokia thinking? Well, it will be revealed in the Nokia Connection event in Singapore.

A news site is being quoted here- "At an event last night, Nokia's new UK MD, Conor Pierce, noted that the UK will be a key territory for the company's new batch of smartphones; no doubt Nokia wants to test the waters before it takes on the prized US market."
Now, if you are wondering why the homeland of this technological giant- Finland, is not in the list of first launch nations, then it's pretty obvious, that Nokia is setting it's sights on bigger markets.

Survey says locked mobile phones prohibits 55% of the UK mobile users to switch network

It has been revealed that UK citizens are missing the advantages of  SIM only deals  with their locked handsets. In a survey conducted by YouGov, it was found that about twenty five million mobile phone users in UK that accounts to be 55% of all mobile phone users are unable to freely switch to another network provider's sim as the handset they buy with certain deal from a network provider comes as locked to a single network.

As the users have already spent a lot on their existing handset, it discourages them to buy yet another handset to avail the network of their choice. This creates a virtual monopoly in the market as the user forcefully uses the sim with poor service and network. In the survey almost tow third of the users have given opinion of using lock free mobile phones in the future that would allow them to switch network of their choice.
