The Apple iPhone 4 White, took a long while in hitting the shelves. Nearly a year. Now that this phone is out and people are striking cheap iPhone 4 White deals, all over the country, I came across a report-on the delay. The big guys at Apple have given the following explanation for the delay in iPhone 4 White's launch, and we quote Apple SVP Phil Schiller - "It was challenging, It's not as simple as making something white. There's a lot more that goes into both the material science of it -- how it holds up over time... but also in how it all works with the sensors... We thought we were there a year ago, or less than that, when we launched the iPhone 4, and we weren't. There are a lot of unexpected interactions between the color of the device and various internal components".
The iPhone 4 White's launch was marred by the iOS tracking controversy, however, that issue has been addressed by Apple in its Q&A document, claiming that it's not tracking users individually, but rather collecting data on the locations of Wi-Fi hotspots and mobile towers surrounding them. Steve Jobs (CEO, Apple) said- "As new technology comes into the society there is a period of adjustment and education. We haven't, as an industry, done a very good job educating people, I think, as to some of the more subtle things going on here. As such, (people) jumped to a lot of wrong conclusions in the last week. I think the right time to educate people is when there is no problem. I think we will probably ask ourselves how we can do some of that, as an industry."
So, what does he mean here? Who is right and who is wrong? You can understand the multilayered imapct yourself.
